The Eighteenth Rockdale Math Competition
The 18th RMC was held on October 28, 2023, for high schools.
This year, 125 Varsity students and 79 JV students attended, for a total of 204 students from 31 schools. There were slightly more students this year than last, which can partially be attributed to there being only three in-person math competitions in Georgia in Fall semester 2023. The RMC was the second of the three.
As usual, we offered an ARML-style competition, with a Power, Team, Relay, and Individual rounds. Each school was invited to bring a four-student teams in each of middle school, junior varsity, or varsity.
As usual, we continued the weighting of the Individual Round problems based on how many participants incorrectly answered each question (see the October 2013 page for more details). This file shows the percentage of participants who got each problem incorrect, and thus, these were the weights assigned to each problem.
The competition papers will be included in the second “Problem Book” for the years 2015 to 2025.
Team trophies were awarded to the top 3 teams in junior varsity and varsity per classification. We awarded the highest-scoring students in junior varsity and varsity a Championship Medal. We also awarded the highest scoring student from each school a School Winner Medal.
