The Fifteenth Rockdale Math Competition

The 15th RMC was held on October 19, 2019 for high schools, and on February 1, 2020 for middle schools.

Last year’s record-breaking registration led to some difficult accommodations. As a result, we had to split the competition into high school and middle school. So for the first time ever, there was no middle school division. The middle school competition was split off into its own event.

Thus, we had a total of 95 four-person Varsity or JV teams registered this year before the deadline. This translates to 380 high school students. For the middle school division, we had 17 four-person teams and 64 students.

Once again, we offered an ARML-style competition, with a Power, Team, Relay, and Individual rounds. Each school was invited to bring a four-student teams in each of middle school, junior varsity, or varsity.

As with previous years, we continued the weighting of the Individual Round problems based on how many participants incorrectly answered each question (see the October 2013 page for more details). This file hows the percentage of participants who got each problem incorrect, and thus, these were the weights assigned to each problem.

The competition papers will be included in the second “Problem Book” for the years 2015 to 2024.

Team trophies were awarded to the top 3 teams in junior varsity and varsity per classification. We awarded the highest-scoring students in junior varsity and varsity a Championship Medal. We also awarded the highest scoring student from each school a School Winner Medal. Additionally, the overall first place team winners in JV and Varsity divisions won a Rockdale Math Competition T-shirt.

Listed here are all team rankings per level and the top individual winners in each category.
